    About

I've made a throw/blanket using this pattern before - using bright colours for the flower motif on a white background - but this time I wanted to make a more grown-up version for one of my nieces using her favourite colour. I found the Maybelle flower pattern here http://6ichthusfish.typepad.com/6ichthusfish/2010/05/maybelle-crochet-flower-free-pattern.html and the pattern to square it here http://myrosevalley.blogspot.ie/2013/06/maybelle-square-crochet-pattern.html. I'm a relative beginner (this is only my 4th crochet project) but the pattern was very easy & quick to make up. I added a round of slip-stitch in cream to each motif so the finished throw would have a thin cream grid running through it. The motifs were crocheted together using slip-stitch with right sides facing each other so the slightly raised grid is on the back. I just added a very simple border - 2 rows of cream in dc & 2 rows of purple in dc.
