I learned to make a granny square when I was a child. Then didn't do anything until the end of 2013 when I picked up a hook again and found I could remember how to do it. I took part in the 2014 Crochet Mood Blanket project (there's a Facebook group, just Google it and lots of info will come up) and made one granny square every day for the whole year. I learned a lot more! I also have a beautiful and very random blanket which also has memories crocheted into it (birthdays, visits, holidays, etc). I've still got the bug.
I like to start big blankets - love the crochet alongs - though I'm not so good at finishing them. I particularly love freeform crochet - it's very liberating and allows me to indulge my habit of buying beautiful yarns, one ball at a time. I live for discontinued lines - but then I fall in love with the yarns and can't get any more.
