Chicken & Egg Toy
This pattern is for a gorgeous little chicken who tucks neatly inside a two-part knitted egg!
The finished item is exactly the size of a large hen's egg.
It is knitted flat in oddments of yellow and white DK/light worsted/8ply yarn on 3.25mm/US3 knitting needles. I recommend wool or wool mix yarn - don't use cotton, linen or bamboo.
The pattern is versatile and you could knit these in any colours you fancy - knit a bluebird instead or a brown egg.
As well as the main yarns, you'll need a small amount of polyester toy filling and a tiny amounts of yarn or embroidery floss in black and orange for the chick's eyes and beak. Alternatively you could use small beads.
This is a fun little project not just for Easter! And I've discovered that adults as well as children love taking the chick in and out of its egg.
