    About

Knitting is a way for me to connect with other people and show them how much I care. When I heard that our little United Methodist Church was collecting items for Layette kits for babies in need I set to work knitting. I knit one every day for a week so that these babies could have a cosy sweater. I feel relaxed when I knit. My worries and cares fade into the back ground, it is as if everything is right with the world again.
My knitting journey began when I learned to knit from my grandmothers. However after I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression 5 years ago I discovered Ravelry.com and my knitting has steadily improved as I challenged myself more.

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
I love this yarn by Hobby Lobby - 436/blue green multi

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 5.50mm (US 9) 25cm
    • Circular 5.50mm (US 9) 80cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Holder
    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stitch Markers
    • Buttons
Other : This sweater is knit top down and an extra pair of needles is required to knit the sleeves. A stitch holder works well for the right front stitches as you work the sleeves. Stitch markers, 4 in all. are needed to mark where the edges of the sleeves are.

    Measurements

Notes: I knit this sweater several times and every time I knit it on size 5.5 mm needles instead of the recommended size of US 10 or 10.5. The finished measurements were chest 19 inches, length 9 inches and sleeve length 7 inches.

This pattern is a great way to use up odd balls of acrylic worsted weight and I used about 50 grams of a variegated yarn for the yoke and matched it with a different solid each time so as not to get bored. I bought my variegated yarn from Hobby Lobby. Good Luck with this pattern.
