Having killed the last attempt at a lacy scarf, and thinking lace wasn’t for me, I couldn’t bear to discard the merino/silk yarn. So I returned to the drawing board, searched for a simpler pattern that was less ‘open’ with bands along the length to provide a bit more structure and I found the simple ‘one row lace scarf’ created by a blogger. After several attempts I realised that even a one row lace pattern required total focus! I unwound the less than-perfect attempt, gave myself a good talking to, and set about starting again. I like the pattern - less ‘dishcloth-y’ than the previous pattern/yarn combination - and am going to develop patience and focus so that no mistakes are made. The yarn is a real pain to unwind; it knots readily, and splits. Much easier to not undo it! It’ll be a long project I feel: it’s a rare day when nothing else competes for my attention. But I hope the resulting garment will be a useful addition to my summer holiday wardrobe...
