    About

When my mother-in-law saw the blanket I made last summer, she asked me to make one for her, too.....matching her new red sofa. The very same evening I started planning this blanket, and a week later the yarn arrived. But first I had to finish all those Christmas presents I had on my needles and hooks, and all this time the yarn sat there in its box, calling to me....I started the first square three days before Christmas and finished the blanket within six weeks - an achievement I am very proud of!

This is lovely. How did you make the individual sections, what stitches did you use? I'd love to make a similar one, is there a pattern ?

I used this tutorial http://www.thriftybelow.com/sunburst-granny-square/ and added one more round of granny trebles. It's really not difficult at all! The squares are sewn together with a simple whipstitch, and the border is rather minimalistic - just one row of double crochet in the background colour, and another row of dc in purple. My blanket is huge, 15 rows of 11 squares each (165 squares in total), but you could make any other size you like. I hope this helps, I haven't yet managed to write the pattern down....

Thank you! I was not sure about the colours until it all came together, but then I loved it so much that I was quite tempted to keep it for myself....
