Really struggling with this - it just doesn’t look right. It doesn’t lie flat like in the photo and each square is almost raised border. I bought the exact wool recommended and needle size. Anyone any ideas???

Thank you all ... I have started again with smaller kneedles and it looks so much better - will post when i’ve Done a few rows. Thank you for all your help and comments - it’s lovely to have someone to talk to about it.

I am just about to finish this blanket having a similar problem with the raised borders. Once its blocked though think it will be ok I've got the last row of blocks to do and the top border. I used Paintbox baby DK. I will post pics on my project page shortly. It looks nice though and will be lovely when you finish sometimes we are too critical of our own work!

I would start again using smaller needles but that’s me. If I’m not happy with a project I always rip it back and start again. Keep at it until you’re happy with it because it’s a beautiful pattern.

Thank you all! I’ve tried knitting a tension square and it came out like a rectangle more than a square, so i’ve Started another one with a smaller kneedle and it looks so much better - I might start again with smaller needles .... what do you think? Am I wasting my time?

I always do a gauge swatch first....I think if you want to continue on with it you can block it afterward and it will be okay. I'm my own worst critic so I would probably start over :(

I think once you have finished the blanket and have blocked it, it will lie flat :)
