    About

I love boat neck tops as they're so flattering on me so when I discovered this pattern I had to make it. I decided on a plain burnt orange colour using yarn from my stash. The floppy ribbed borders are a nod to vintage styling of years gone by and give the cardi a relaxed air.

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 5.00mm (US 8)
    • Circular 5.00mm (US 8)

    Accessories

    • Stitch Holder
    • Tapestry Needle
    • Buttons

    Measurements

Notes: I went down a needle size to get the tension and made the smallest size. I also added extra length to the sleeves and body as I'm long in both and wanted to get the proportions right for me. I also knit the front borders in with the actual fronts having marked the buttonhole placement on the left front. I also knit from the left front around the cardigan without casting off each piece placing the pieces in their correct order on a circular needle to hold the sts. The final front was the right hand side which meant I could just work across all sts from the front band for the neck without having to join yarn at the front edge so it was very neat.

Very nice cardi Pat. I love boat necks too, so flattering. I was very interested to see how you adapted the pattern to be knitted in one piece, it’s something I’ve thought about many times but haven’t had the courage to do yet, maybe a cardi is the best place to start for me! I started knitting in the round a couple of years ago and now don’t want to make anything in pieces as my sewing always let’s me down and the finished garment looks cheap. Well done!

Thankyou Karen. As a designer I've had lots of practice sewing up and don't mind doing it but there are many who would rather knit in one piece as they don't want to. Give it a go!

@Pat E: Sounds perfect for the season! I have just finished a new design in Brushed Fleece, being creative has been keeping me sane. I am glad I have a good stash of yarn to keep me busy! xx

@Suzy Rai: I know the feeling about knitting in these crazy times! I'll have to take a peek at your new design. I'm just beginning to write up a baby jumper design. Trying to get my head around the numbers! xx

This looks lovely. I also like boat necks and would like to knit this cardigan for myself. Thanks for sharing the yarn and quantity you used, this will be very helpful.
