    About

We live in the tropics so there's not always a great need for those lovely winter woolies we love to create. However just over 2 years ago our beautiful grandaughter arrived 12.26.14. We were over the moon & my son & his wife were delighted. My son worked away so Iyla & her mum lived with us for 2yrs until 01.14.17. They needed to move on for work reasons and suddenly we were empty nesters again...but I think the worst kind..oh my goodness we could never have imagined how much we would miss that beautiful smiling face of our grandaughter. My husband got to work straight away building his workshop & I got busy knitting. Now that they had moved to a cooler climate I had a little someone to knit for & since January I've been knitting up a storm. It's so true about the therauputic benefits. So until I see her again I'll keep up this beautiful craft of knitting.

I loved reading your story, thank you for sharing. My only grandchildren, two gorgeous little girls, also live overseas, an eleven hour plane flight. It is hard being a grandma from a distance, I wish every day they all lived closer, but that is not going to happen, so I too console myself by knitting a lot for them and getting much joy seeing them wearing my garments in the many photos we receive. Unlike your situation, they live in a very warm climate most of the year, so I am always looking for little summer cardigans that I can knit in cotton or bamboo.
