    About

This is the 12th Christmas stocking I have made from two similar patterns for a woman in her late 80's who has become a good friend. She is disabled and no longer able to knit, but she has 7 children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and now has, including spouses, close to 70 descendants, ALL of whom have received a personalized Christmas stocking from her. Since I knit the last 12, she made almost 60 of them herself! She still insists upon crocheting around the top of the stockings! The red one shown here is for the boys and the girls receive one in white with a reindeer and Santa in a sleigh. One odd fact is that, purely by accident, we discovered that I knew her her late husband because we both played clarinet in the same community band.
