Connor's Baby Aran-type Sweater

I made this for my first grandson

    About

I liked the pattern of flying seagulls and hoped it would symbolise freedom to be himself, as it apparently did for the designer. Also the colour she chose and which I followed reminded me of an Aran sweater - appropriate for a baby with some Irish ancestry! The project was a steep learning curve for me - the first time I had tried to knit on circular needles, and inserting the sleeves proved a challenge... The 'seashell' buttons used came from my mother's (his great-grandmother's!) long-preserved and treasured "button box" - she kept and recycled, like many of her generation, pretty or useful or spare buttons... - a little touch of family history, too...

Beautiful little sweater. I love the pattern, too, and you have inspired me to give it a try. Yay for mastering circular needles! I love your button story.
