    About

I wanted to make my nephew a Mickey Mouse hoodie and got some great Disney buttons by "Dress it up" which are my favourite brand. The buttons came with 3x Mickey and 3x Minnie so I decided to make my niece the same thing using the Minnie buttons since she is going to Disneyland in December. I adapted the pattern slightly by missing off the moss stitch hem of the cardigan but everything else the same then picking up cast on stitches +knitting in the round with increases +"make bobbles" for skirt. The pattern is Red Heart Soft-Baby Bear Hoodie LW2899 but there was a fault trying to link it to this project. http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/baby-bear-hoodie

Stylecraft heart bunting pattern used for pockets free on their website.
I used button grafting -you pull the knitting loop through the button shank then put stitch back on the needle so buttons get knitted in as you go. It reduces knots+finishing and low risk of buttons coming loose +young child choking on them.

You must be so pleased with what you've achieved, it's amazing. Great tip about the button grafting, will give that a go next time, I hate sewing buttons on knitted garments.

Thanks, yes I hate extra sewing at the end too. This cardigan pattern is also good as the body is knotted in one piece up to the armpits, then you slot the sleeves in and knit it as a yoke which then turns into the hood so it's a great pattern for minimal sewing!
