For my first time dying, I wanted to create colors from natural materials. I started with Knitpicks Bare and dyed it with beets, onion skins, and cherries.
Although the beets were very bright in the pan, the yarn is a light peach color, my husband calls it amaretto. Onion skins, saved for weeks, turned the yarn a light orangey color. A jar of cherries turned the yarn pink, so red dye was added in drops to change the color a bit.
All the yarn was soaked in vinegar and water to make it more colorfast before dying. The colors are light, but natural and nice.
