The maddy laine cardigan pattern, ML130 Garden Paths was designed in the depths of winter when any sign of a garden flower was covered in record-breaking snowfalls. Designing a garment, with the hopeful sensibilities of what might come in the Spring, seemed like a perfect diversion.
The slip stitch 'paths' zig and zag up the lower section of the cardigan and are bordered with lines of 'shrubbery' created by a mock cable pattern. The top section of the body and lower section of the sleeves are awash in a knot flower motif. Single slip stitch lines zigzag up the sleeves to a set-in armhole. The front bands are knit in a slip stitch rib to match the lower body and sleeve ribbing.
This pattern works well in the 100% wool yarn as shown, but knitting this pretty design in cotton might even go farther in making you feel a little more hopeful that Spring will soon arrive.
