    About

This is a great project to learn cables! The band is cabled and knit as a rectangular piece. When it is long enough to fit your head, cast off and sew together (use mattress stitch to make sure the seam is not bulky). The pick up stitches (I used 90) to close and reduce the top of the hat. I usuall use the rule of thumb: divide the # stitches by 10, 11 or 12 and whatever fits in best is your first number to reduce. Thereafter knit one round between each reduction row until 8 stitches are left.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 0.50mm
    • Circular 3.50mm (US 4) 50cm
    • Circular 4.00mm (US 6) 50cm
Other : The swarovski crystal beads were added as I knitted - by using the very thing crochet needle to pull only the mohair yarn of a given stitch thru. I used a second circular to reduce at the top of the hat (as opposed to a set of DPNs). I frequently use this
