    About

Just loved this pattern and had to make it for my 3 year old granddaughter.

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
Acrylic DK from my stash - Various 4.0 balls

    Needles & Hooks

Other : As per the pattern

    Accessories

    • Buttons
Other : This was fun. I selected random buttons from my button box.

    Measurements

Notes: I realised too late that allowance had not been made for the front bands in the overall size of this pattern. This resulted in the front being the same width as the back BEFORE the bands were added so the front of the garment ended up being wider than the back. It wasn't too obvious when worn though so I left it this time but will adjust the number of stitches if I make it again.

I LOVE this!!!! Looking at the pics from the pattern the caterpillar on your's seems larger. Did this just happen, or did you scale him up or something? xx

Hi Holly, yes you're right I did modify the Caterpillar to make him look a bit more like the one on the cover of the book. Thanks for your comment. Helen

@Helen B: Oh Helen, did you just increase numbers of stitches or rows to make the caterpillar larger? How did you do it. Must say I prefer your version to the original!

@Jan H: I think you'd describe my technique for the Caterpillar as 'free' knitting but I did start with a few more stitches. Then I simply looked at the picture on the cover of the book and experimented. It took a few attempts to get started. Once I'd finished the head looked too small so I used a crochet hook to add an extra stitch all round.
