    About

Well, this is exciting! Jimmy Snail is the first thing I’ve ever (EVER!) made from scratch. He started out as a drawing and, over the course of a few weeks (we won’t mention how many!), he was transformed into the marvellous mollusc that you see before you.

Skill-wise, I’d say he’s pretty easy. There’s minimal shaping but there are a lot of colour changes. Of course, that’s if you decide to make a stripey snail like Jimmy - with a bit of imagination, you have the freedom to make the shelled sweetie of your dreams! You could create a HUGE one with super-chunky yarn or a teeny-weeny one with 4-ply! Some people might like to incorporate EVEN MORE stripes and others might like to try out that self-patterning yarn they’ve been saving for a special occasion… the possibilities are endless!

Jimmy Snail is adorable. I have just been looking at your animal designs and they are all so so cute. I'm going to order Jimmy snail's pattern today. He will be taking up residence on my chest of drawers. I think he will be very happy among my perfumes and other things.

Thanks, Irene! For months and months and months, I had the idea for a knitted snail in my head and I was sure it wouldn't work so I was AMAZED when he turned out cute! I keep meaning to make some more snails in 4-ply and super chunky wool - I just need to knit myself a second pair of hands first! :-D
