I am a 30 year survivor of leukemia and a secondary blood cancer, and a 5 year survivor of 2 breast cancers. For the past 15. Years, I have been captain of Always Friends, a fundraising walk that benefit some the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The research dollars raised have helped in my long term surviving and thriving. Several years, I have made an Afghan to raffle. This year I made the Afghan to be given to one lucky team member to show my appreciation for their continued support. Our team has raised close to $100,000 over the years. That's a lot of hope. Knitting Afghan squares is handy as I spend many hours in doctor waiting rooms and the projects are portable. My projects have been completed over many chemo sessions and time spent recovering in between. I love that the time goes to good use and that the afghans continue to remind people that they are appreciated, and that through their efforts and donations, they are making a difference. Here's to many more stitches still to come!
