Back in 2008 when I was doing my GCSE's, I found like most teenagers that I couldn't study ALL day! So my mum taught me how to knit as a way to unwind (pun unintended...)
After the traditional inaugural scarf of many tensions, this elephant was my ambitious next project. I made one half, then the project sat unfinished for the next 5 years.
After university, I started working at a Methodist Church in Sheffield with a strong 'Knit and Chat' group, who encouraged me to start up knitting again, lent me materials and taught me new techniques. I finished the elephant within the year!
Those ladies inspired me with their determination to meet together each week, no matter their circumstances, and share yarn and biscuits, and friendship. And I am still knitting now, and building up a plentiful supply of tools and yarn thanks to LoveKnitting!
