Yay for filet!
This crocheted scarf was made in nine continuous Wedges, each consisting of a small double crochet butterfly worked on a classic filet crochet background. Through the use of short rows, the softly-shaped Wedges automatically created the circular silhouette.
Each new Wedge was begun by stitching across the long shaped edge of the previous Wedge, so there was no sewing required. After working the first few rows of each Wedge – and paying close attention to the initial bottom shaping – I could easily work the current Wedge by simply glancing at the previous one every so often.
Although it looked ready to wear right off the hook, I lightly wet-blocked the entire piece to further set the stitches.
I think this pattern would look really cool in a rainbow of pastels using laceweight mohair, with each Wedge made in a different color.
