    About

    Simple. Stylish. And no sewing!

This lace scarf was crocheted in two pieces, Body and Border. The double crochet lace Body was worked vertically in rows in an easily memorized 4-row repeat (2 full-length rows followed by 2 partial rows) that automatically created the curved silhouette. The pattern was quite intuitive – which helped immensely when working with Solid Black yarn! Once the Body was completed, the leaf lace Border was also worked vertically in rows and joined to the chain loops at the bottom edge of the Body as-you-go. So there was no sewing required.

The close-fitting neckline is patterned in such a way as to resist stretching and, if worn below the natural neckline, to create the effect of soft ruffling.

Once the crocheting was completed, I wet blocked the entire piece just to set the stitches…..and I’m very pleased with how it turned out!
