I found out I was going to be a grandma and started making this right away. However, I was distracted for a while making cute little outfits for the newborn, and then a jacket for myself, so it has taken me a while to finish it. My son and daughter - in- law live far away and knitting something for the baby helps me feel closer to them. Knitting helps my mind, body and soul. Following patterns, counting stitches and making design tweaks keeps my mind active. My arthritic fingers are exercised when I knit, and the 8mm needles in this project really gave them a work out: I had to switch from bamboo to plastic because I didn't like the resistance and friction of the bamboo. Lastly, knowing that every stitch is an act of love for the new member of our family warms my soul. I am a #happyknitter!
