I decided to tackle this project because I find myself unemployed, again, and knitting up a storm. This was the first blanket I knitted and it took forever. I am used to quick projects that can be accomplished over the weekend. I think I get "knit-crazy" during difficult times because knitting seems to clear my mind. It calms my anxiety down so I can figure out what I'm feeling and what I want. Then, I can find a solution to the problem. I also practice yoga and meditation, but I feel knitting offers the extra benefit of producing something tangible that I can gift to others or beautify my life with. Knitting helps me to stay positive by keeping me productive and creative when I am feeling blue - which is pretty frequent lately. Knitting gives me a purpose when I feel like I don't have any. It's everything a happy person needs. I am excited to pass this skill down to the next generation; my niece is asking me to teach her how to knit so she can make her own soft blankets!
