    About

I had a long chat with Belinda at last October's Knit and Stitch show and she helped me to choose this as my project. Unfortunately my mind has been a little too busy until recently to work on a lace pattern that does require concentration, preferring to do work on simpler projects that give my hands something to do whilst not occupying the mind. Recently though I have been wanting to work on projects that create a challenge, that distract the mind and make me focus on something - this could be related to the half marathon training I'm doing. This really was a project that returned a reward, it stopped the desire to sit on the sofa and snack, calmed my busy mind and gave me a focus. Once I got started, it was a quick knit using 6mm needles. I liked the repetitiveness of the pattern and I challenged myself to remember the repeats. Another lovely shawl to wear once the weather picks up and I'm less likely to get blown to pieces.

    Pattern

    Square Dance

    This pattern is from:
Belinda Harris-Reid (bought at Knitting and Stitching Show October 2016)

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
Warm Moonshine - Blue 2.0 balls

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 6.00mm (US 10) 35cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Tapestry Needle

    Measurements

    Notes: 147cm x 125cm

This is a large shawl. For anyone not comfortable doing lace work on larger needles, I would suggest using a circular needle, 80cm should suffice, to help with both the weight and in stopping you from catching the work on the needle ends and pulling at the stitches
