    About

Scarf in Lima alpaca yarn. This is an easy lace pattern with one row. The scarf lies perfectly flat and looks the same from both sides.

I am allergic to acrylic yarn and some types of wool. This rules out most scarves that can be bought retail. The only way I can have a scarf to keep warm in winter is to knit it myself from cotton, silk or alpaca.

Is this machine washable - perhaps with care, such as 30 degrees and wrapped carefully? Carol

I have not washed mine yet, however if you use a wool cycle and lay it out carefully to dry it should wash okay.

If you have any leftover yarn you could knit up a small square in the stitch used and try washing that.

Most yarn has washing instructions on the ball band, so if in doubt check that. When I knit garments for other people, I always give them a photocopy of the washing instructions on the ball band.
