    About

I decided a few months ago that I was going to knit a blanket for my grandma. It's taken me a bit, but I've been able to work on it fairly steadily this summer (air conditioning is wonderful for blanket knitting progress!) and I will definitely have it finished in time for Christmas!

There were some initial hiccups with the pattern when I first started it; I couldn't get the increase transition from the border to the body to work out right, no matter what I did. I ended up working out the number of stitches I needed to add in addition to what the pattern called for and working out the corresponding decreases I'd need later. To date, this is my largest knitting project and I'm really happy with how it's turning out!

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
KnitPicks Brava Worsted - Tranquil 1700.0 yards

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 5.00mm (US 8) 120cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Cable Needle
Other : I use a wide cable needle for the cable section and I have two stitch markers to remind me where the border is in relation to the main body of the pattern.

    Measurements

Notes: I decided to go with the medium size, which is a lap blanket. I had to make some adjustments to the pattern at the beginning, in order to get the increase transition to work out properly (I wasn't getting the correct number of stitches just going off what the pattern stated). I got enough yarn to make the largest size if I'd preferred and I may carry on for an additional pattern repeat to add more length once I finish the stated number of repeats. Minus that hiccup at the beginning, it's a fairly easy knit.
