    About

Originally, this sweater was supposed to be for my Mum-in-law, but after 4 abortive attempts to get then size right, (changing hook size & reducing the number of pattern repeats in a row), it was nearly complete... and slightly too snug for Mum! So, I added length to make it for my daughter as it fitted her & it's now complete. I also ordered a new batch of Pale Lilac Paintbox DK cotton to start again for Mum.

The pattern was very easy (although I would advise doing the sleeves very carefullly as my first attempt ended up with 1 sleeve 4 pattern repeats larger than the other! Had to rip it back & fix. I'd just misread the pattern the first time...

I'd say this is a great pattern for beginners, but make sure to do a tension swatch. Pattern calls for 4.5mm hook but I had to use a 4mm hook. It came together very quickly - I had to put the project on hold for a week so Mum could try it on, but otherwise the project only took a week.

And the best part - no sewing up required!

    Pattern

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 4.00mm (US 6)
    • Crochet Hook 3.50mm (US 4)

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers

    Measurements

    To fit chest: 34"/86cm

Notes: I reduced pattern repeats on a row by 6 to fit my size 12 daughter, and added probably 10 rows to body length and a whole repeat to the sleeves (6 rows), mainly because she likes them long!
