I came across the unicorn cross stitch chart in a library book and instantly thought of Kayleigh (she absolutely loves anything unicorn related at the moment!) I was going to do a c2c crochet item but decided I wanted to learn a new knitting technique. It was going to be either duplicate stitch or intarsia. I tried the intarsia but there were too many sparodic colour changes so I changed to duplicate stitch. This made the project much quicker to complete because I just had to knit in stockinette/stocking stitch until I reached the length I wanted, then repeated for the back piece and added the unicorn after that. I got Kayleigh to make the inlay and I sewed it, by hand, onto the inside of the cosy. Then I used mattress stitch to sew the sides together. Kayleigh chose the button from her haberdashery stash. I sewed it on and added a crochet chain as a hole/fastener. Duplicate stitch was much easier than I thought it was going to be (except for weaving in the ends, I hate that part!)
