    About

Sometimes, you just need a simple project to soothe your soul. Paton's Kroy sock yarn does the work of creating nicely-defined stripes. And... If you're using more than one skein, be *sure* to note where you began in the variegated sequence so that you can match it on the second sock. Oy! I had to join yarn at the heel, and lucked out with two shanks that matched. As I've said before, I learn something new every time I knit something.

Notes: This pattern is extremely well-written. It's a great introduction to German short rows, which some knitters find easier than wrap & tie. There are also videos illustrating the technique on Very Pink Knits.

I used "Magic Loop" (instead of four double-pointed needles) to make these socks. I find it easier to turn the heel with the 'live' stitches still on the circular needle. Also, I cast off with a straight needle several sizes larger to keep the top from being too tight.

Hi Alison -- Our dog (Boomer) loves it when I knit! He knows where to find me and often lays by my side while I'm knitting.
