    About

This wool is smooth and easy to knit with, doesn’t split easily. Washes well on wool cycle with wool wash. Used bamboo needles, these and beech needles are my preferred needles for sock knitting.
Enjoy trying out different sock yarns. This yarn by Yorkshire Spinners and is from a collection named after different birds. The colours being based on the colours of the feathers of each particular bird. I love the colour combination in these, just like the ones on the wood pigeon who visits my garden.

Oooh Jean they are lovely. I really want to try socks but despite being an experienced knitter can't get my head round 4 needles. Maybe I gave up too easily or should try the magic loop

Thank you Vix, Pleased you like them.
Don’t give up, have another go. A bit fiddly setting up the stitches but once you get past the first few rows, it is really very easy. Just keep knitting round the outside. Having the stitches on 4 needles and knitting wth the 5 th I find works well for socks. Leaving spare stitches on the other two needles when working the heel. I personally like using the bamboo needles. Also they hold the stitches more securely than metal. This is good pattern to use easy and straight forward always turns out well. All plain knitting, the rest is all down to the colourful yarns. Can’t comment of the magic loop afraid I’m a bit of a novice with that one.
        Happy knitting

@Jean F: Thanks Jean for encouragement. I really will have to give it another try because I do get sock envy. I also use bamboo find them better for the fingers. I don't think I have tried beyond the first few rows so thanks for tip. Sounds like that pattern is a good start.

@Vix: Sure you will be fine once you get started. Yes I like the Bamboo, the ones that are about 5 inch long I find are just right for sock knitting. Much easier to mange than the longer ones especially when setting up your stitches. Also it’s useful to have a extra spare needle to hand for ease of picking up the first set of stitches down the side of the heel flap. Reverting back to having the stitches 4 needles when you complete the round.
