I made the original yarn bowl to keep my yarn neat whilst working,no more balls rolling across the floor. Then I made trios of stackable bowls for CR.UK with donated yarn.
I used 3 or 4 strands of DK together and a 6mm or 7mm hook to keep the fabric reasonably firm. (The tension might be too tight for you to work in comfort but I love the results ! ) I chose a variety of colours, some plain & others ombre and then "mixed & matched" the bowls.I simply dc (HTrebles if you find it too tight to work ) a circle to the diameter required then work the next round TBL and in a continuous spiral to the desired height. My first one was 7"wide 7" high.( Main Photo)The nests were made by crocheting the smallest first & then using that to measure the next base circle making it at least one row wider and so on.I can make a set in 2 days, once I've sorted the yarns.
I keep each colour as a separate ball and work over all thread joins. No sewing is needed, just snipping any odd threads showing.
