This was my first attempt at knitting. I am a single mom through adoption and started knitting as a way to make it through the days and nights while my only child fought her way back from drug and alcohol addiction. She was 17 years old at the time and I would literally knit because I was unable to do anything else but sit .. Knitting gave me a peace I hadn't felt in years (when I didn't realize, couldn't face what was going on). It had to be a simple pattern that I could pick up or leave if life got to be too much. Thankfully my daughter chose recovery over addiction and has been clean and sober for over four years. She is active in recovery programs at her college and I am grateful and blessed to have her and knitting in my life. When I need peace of mind or am troubled by the days events I know I can pick up my needles and become centered. Thank God.
