I discovered knitting a few years ago and taught myself with a knitting kit. Since then I have learned to crochet too and always have at least one project on the go and 4 or 5 planned when I finish one. This one is for a colleagues little girl who has just turned 1 years old.
It is a bitter sweet project for me as whilst my colleague had her baby, I lost mine.
It is true that knitting is good for your mental health (unless you have got half way through a project, realise you've not read the pattern properly and have to frog it), without knitting my way through my depression after losing the pregnancy I don't think I would be here. Knitting has now become an addiction for me and helps me find a calm place.
My husband doesn't fully understand it and sometimes gets frustrated with all the yarn and me constantly having projects on the go, but the joy of completing a project as well as the pleasure on the faces of the recipients of my knitting makes me happy
