    About

Well I am currently teaching a bunch of very talented 10 to 12 year olds at Fulbrook Middle School in Buckinghamshire. It is so fulfilling and it's really lovely to see those children off the iPads and mobile phones and learning to knit and believe you me they are buzzing with ideas and simply love getting those needles going.

This design was put together really to show the children how to develop their knit and purl stitches a stage further and introducing them to yarn forward and yarn back abbreviations. to produce this wonderful plump double fabric. The scarf is reversible too. The hearts are swiss darned on so the children can learn this technique too. Using Love Knitting's Paintbox chunky yarns which comes in a vast choice of colours was simply perfect for this project. Well I hope you like it anyway xx If you like this project please let us know where you are from as the children would love to know and record on a world map xx

Well done you! - what a great way to teach children an old skill in a new way. Just hope they don't add it to the curriculum & ruin your enthusiasm! I'm up in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders.

I think this is fantastic and it has made me more determined to sit with my 11 year old grandson to teach him to knit, he has asked before but we have never just got on with it.

Thank you so much Dee. Do have a go with your grandson. I am currently teaching 4 boys in the yarn club at my daughters school. They are loving every minute of it. Try him out on chunky needles and super thick yarn. Make sure the yarn is a light colour but you probably know this anyway. Good Luck and really hope he enjoys getting to grips with the needles x

I am amazed how quickly these children are picking things up. It's lovely to see these children off the iPads and getting to know each other through their knitting. I am so pleased you like the reversible aspect of this too. I love this yarn x
