    About

My granddaughter Jessica loves her Care Bear toys even though she is only 11 and half months old. She has given me so much pleasure over the last year that I decided to design her a jumper featuring her favourite Care Bear for her 1st birthday.
I decided to knit a plain jumper and then Swiss darn the picture on using a graph I created from a picture.
I also created openings on both shoulders to make it easier for her Mum to put on, and remove, the jumper. The shoulders are fastened with two buttons on each side.
I used wool from my stash: approximately 3\4 of a 200g ball of double knitting wool and oddments of dk wool for the Swiss darning.

I love knitting and crocheting as it helps me in my battles to stay calm and rational. I have Graves desease which is a thyroid disorder with many symptoms. The main one that I suffer from is anxiety disorder which causes extreme stress to my body and mind. The rhythm and focus from knitting and crocheting helps to keep me calm

Hi Heather I love your jumper how clever to make your own design! Did you keep the graph? I was wondering if it could be used to knit the design into the jumper I have done quite a few intarsia designs and I think it would be possible with your design.

I did knit it in originally but was not happy with the result, so I knitted a plain front and swiss darned it on.
The graph is easy to make, just trace over the picture, go over the lines on the back with a soft pencil, turn it back over and place it in the graph paper. Retrace over the lines with a harder pencil and the image should come out on the graph paper. This gives you an outline to 'square off'.
