Knitting makes me happy in so many ways and so one day I asked myself "How can this craft that I love make others as happy as me?" It was October of 2015 and a member of my knitting group was selling raffle tickets for breast cancer. I asked my group if they had heard of knitted knockers. I had read about them in my craft magazine. It turns out at that time that no one in the my state was knitting knockers! We decided that day to start this project locally with the help of the knitted knockers organization and their founder Barbara Demorest. I printed patterns and purchased yarn to get my group started. We partnered with our local hospital and their cancer support group ( Steel Magnolias) and in 2016 we knit 169 pairs and donated 89 of those to women in need! Giving back to my community through the craft that I love gives me great happiness because it has brought peace love and comfort to many other women that have suffered through breast cancer .
