    About

A middle of the night wake-up call to the sound and smell of burning timber was only the beginning of my nightmare! Bravery somehow comes naturally when that's the only way to be cope with your forever house being consumed before your very eyes. The aftermath is more wearing on the body because it takes a long, long time to get sorted out after such a big dose of stress. Luckily I had already become interested in stranded knitting, where each single row brings joy to the brain, then I discovered Marie Wallin was proposing a Fairisle Club 2 Nordic blanket. Knitted over a 10 month period, this seemed an ideal fit to my predicament : an ambitious project to keep me focused on beauty and creativity while our house is being rebuilt. Before the fire I would never have taken on such a big knit, but each completed section brings me closer to our new home. The investment is well worth it, I know it's all going to be ok ...

Pleased that no-one was hurt, I can only imagine how traumatic it must have been for you all!! Your knitting is superb, this would have to be one of the loveliest fair isle blanket patterns and work I have seen. Well done to you :-)

I should have added that in pitch darkness I did find the torch, and the dogs' leads, and got them out and tied to a tree out of harm's reach! And nobody got hurt.

That's good every1 got out and wasn't hurt in the fire, heartbreaking to loose your home. I can't imagine what that was like. We had a close call a few years ago, the beams under the house had caught fire and had just started so was able to be put out with the hose.

I found the colour a little dull at first, but knew to trust the designer!
