This picture shows a cap with brim that I made for my son. I suffer from a severe case of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, a chronic nerve pain condition. It has affected both my legs, but my left leg and foot are particularly bad. As a result, I am depending on a wheelchair and have a pain medication pump implanted in my abdomen, which delivers extremely strong pain medication directly into my spine and brain. Crocheting has helped me to some degree escape the pain, because I have to focus on my project. Unfortunately, the strong medication and pain have affected my ability to concentrate and focus, and as a result my projects take considerably longer to finish. It is not unusual that I have to unravel and redo them a few times. Nevertheless, crocheting has been one of my coping mechanisms and to some degree has helped me escape the pain for a little while. I am certain that crocheting also helps my health by decreasing my blood pressure, which is often increased due to the severe pain
