Product Details
72° N is the normal latitude for the Artic tree line in the northern hemisphere. Beyond this point, trees no longer grow due to incompatible conditions (barring a few exceptions where conditions are atypical). This cosy hooded cowl has decorative lace tree motifs which emulate the decrease in trees – in terms of both numbers and size.
Folded hems, decreases and short row shaping create a gently-shaped accessory that can be worn as a cowl or a snug hood.
The pattern is written for a heavy fingering / light sportweight yarn and is designed to produce a soft, flowing fabric which is still warm and cosy. The original sample used 1 skein of Old Maiden Aunt Merino/Cashmere/Nylon 4 Ply in the ‘Seen the Ocean’ colourway. Heavier weight yarns could be used but it is recommended to swatch first. Please note that if choosing alternative yarn weights that yardage / sizing may vary.
Pattern Format Lace motifs are both written and charted.
