I remember the first time I saw Canyonlands. My family was standing at one of the lookouts and my younger brother (who was pretty little at the time) said, "Look, Dad, there's a crack in the country!" True enough. :)
[Canyonlands] is a really beautiful place, and the "crack in the country" was carved out by the blue/green Colorado and Green rivers which wind through and set off the lovely red canyon. It took me a while to find the right yarn to embody what these rivers bring to mind, but I finally found it and here's the result.
This shawl is knit "top-down" with a garter body and a lacy edging that is worked on both the right and wrong sides. This pattern can easily be up- or down-sized, just continue working the garter body until desired size and then start the border - the key is that you'll need half your yardage for the body and half for the border, so be sure to weigh your yarn.
This is the second shawl in my VBM Shawl Collection 2. The pattern can be purchased ind
