Girl's Garter Stitch Capelette
This is a quick-knit girl's capelette knit entirely in garter stitch with a worsted weight yarn held double on large needles. The collar is picked up and knit from the top edge.
Gauge: 12 stitches and 20 rows in Garter stitch with the yarn held double on 8mm needles.
You'll also need a small amount of a fancy yarn - I used a blue eyelash yarn from my stash - to add a crocheted edging on all the edges, but you could also knit the edging.
You'll need 2/3 skeins of the main colour and about 1/2 skein of the edging yarn. You'll also need a large button that fits the button hole.
The ages are approx. -- the small can also fit a skinny 7 year old, so it's probably better to measure the child and pick a size that way. The size also depends on what the capelette is going over - jacket, jumper/sweater, coat etc.
