Woohoo - you've made it to the very last step in our how to knit a sock series! All you need to do is graft the toe. Grafting the toe seam is a simple final step. Using kitchener stitch is how we're going to teach you. It's a way of finishing the toe with no seam.

Step 10: Grafting the toe step-by-step

1

Prepare to graft the seam. Cut the yarn leaving a long length 7 times the width of the seam. Thread a blunt darning needle the yarn. Holding the two needles parallel with half of the stitches on the front needle and half of the stitches on the back needle. With the needle holding the tail of the yarn on the back needle. You are now ready to graft the seam.

2

Get started. Start by inserting the needle into the first stitch on the front needle as if to knit and slip the stitch off the needle.

3

Insert the needle into the next stitch on the front needle as if to purl and leave on needle. Pull the yarn through leaving the yarn loose.

4

Insert the needle into the first stitch on the back needle as if to purl and slip the stitch off the needle.

5

Insert the needle into the second stitch on the back needle as if to knit and leave on the needle. Pull the yarn through. Repeat step 1-4 until there is only one stitch on each needle.

6

Graft the last to stitches. Complete grafting the last two stitches working step 1 and step 3 only. Pull the yarn through the last 2 stitches.

7

Next. You are now going to pull the stitches you have just sewn to the same tension as follows.

8

Get your darning needle. Putting your hand into the sock starting at the beginning of the stitching. Using the tip of the darning needle pull the stitches up one by one across the row matching the tension.

9

You're finished! Finish by weaving the end through the sock to secure the end.
