These mitts can be knit in either a sock or lace weight yarn. Written in two sizes, the smaller size will create an average sized womens mitt in sock weight, or a small one in laceweight. For a larger mitt, knit the large size in sock weight.

The lace pattern on these fingerless mitts reminds me of the locks used to control the flow of Dublin's Grand Canal. They're a great project to use up leftover bits of beautiful lace that would otherwise get forgotten. Laceweight yarn creates a beautifully light and soft fabric, and would also make a great glove liner on a cold day.

sizes

Lace: 16.5(20) cm / 6.5(8) inches
Fingering: 20(25) cm / 8.25(9.75) inches
Note: The larger size in fingering weight will create a man sized glove. If you want a wider but shorter glove, I suggest casting on the large size then following directions for the smaller size.
