How to p2tog

Sometimes you will need to be able to shape your knitting by increasing and decreasing stitches. P2tog is knitting shorthand for “purl two together” and is a simple way to decrease stitches as you work on a purl row.

Here’s how you do it

  1. In order to purl two stitches together to decrease take your right-hand needle and insert through the first two stitches purl wise.
  2. Wrap the yarn around the right-hand needle.
  3. Pull the loop through purling the two stitches together, then slip both stitches off the needle.
