How to p2tog
Sometimes you will need to be able to shape your knitting by increasing and decreasing stitches. P2tog is knitting shorthand for “purl two together” and is a simple way to decrease stitches as you work on a purl row.
Here’s how you do it
- In order to purl two stitches together to decrease take your right-hand needle and insert through the first two stitches purl wise.
- Wrap the yarn around the right-hand needle.
- Pull the loop through purling the two stitches together, then slip both stitches off the needle.
