How to upload a project on LoveKnitting
Not everyone can be tech-savvy right off the bat. Sometimes, we need a little help from people who have been there and done that. If you want to upload a project to LoveKnitting but aren't quite sure where to start, we've put together this handy guide that will have you sharing in no time.
First, you will need to login.
Don’t have an account? Simply register to join our amazing community and start uploading your projects.
Then, head over to the Community section of the site.
It's front and center, so it's easy to find.
Now, we'll get started adding a project.
Give your project a name, and tell us a little bit about it.
You can call it by the pattern name, or give it a fun name like "Angie's favorite sweater." I decided to call it by the name of the pattern, because that's how I like to organize things.
Did you use a pattern? You can search for it to link your project with the pattern.
My project was the After the Rain sweater by Heidi Kirrmaier. If you look on the pattern page and scroll to the bottom, you can see all the projects featuring this pattern that have been uploaded. How cool is that?
Select your pattern, or add a pattern.
If the pattern you used isn't on LoveKnitting, you can add it by clicking the tab on the right.
If your project has a promotion or event associated with it, you can add a HotTag.
Previous examples of HotTags are the MillaMia KAL from last Christmas, last summer's Summer CAL, and Sincerely Louise's Forest Friends event when she taught young adults how to knit. All available HotTags will show up under here.
The fun part: add some photos!
Time to show off your work of art with some photos! Need some tips on taking great pictures? Click here to check out this post by photographers.
After you add photos, head to the project story tab.
Tell us more about your project...
...and scroll down to give others some helpful information.
Decide whether your project should be considered a beginner, intermediate, or advanced pattern, and who or what it's for. My sweater is a pattern sized for adult women, so I chose that.
Next, head to the "Yarns" tab on the left.
Click on "+ Add Yarn."
Enter the yarn you used into the search bar.
I used Debbie Bliss Rialto DK yarn.
Choose your colors.
After you choose your yarn, you will have the option to choose which colors of the yarn you used. Note: you will need to add each color separately.
What size did you make?
Head to the "Measurements" tab on the left, and enter which size you made. You can add any comments at the bottom, like if it was too tight, too big, etc.
Go to the "Needles and Hooks" tab.
Tell us what size needles or hooks you used. You can add multiple needles, in case the pattern called for more than one size or type.
In the "Accessories" tab, you can tell everyone what else you needed to make this project.
This is where you can add stitch markers, stitch holders, buttons, and other notions."
You can now view your projects in your profile.
