Newton Shawl

Sir Isaac Newton's Third Law of Motion inspired this one: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." I wanted a shawl whose design reversed at the mid-way point. I certainly went through many different ideas before I got one that worked the way I wanted, and this one just flew off my needles without a hitch. This design, the fourth in my Scientist shawl collection, features a garter body, worked center out and a lacy border that is worked sideways and connected to the body as it's worked. The pattern was written for one skein of sock yarn (see schematic in pattern photos at left for finished measurements), but includes instructions on how to upsize the shawl.
