North Coast Fingerless Mitts
Visiting Eureka, CA, I was taken by the elaborate, lacy yet structured fretwork on the pointy Victorian homes. There was a storm while I was there -- the beach sand appeared dark brown and the sea frothed with white caps, so that informed my color choices. The resulting geometric colorwork pattern makes them as suitable for the city sophisticate as for the country lass.
No need to use the given yarn, any worsted weight yarn will do. All you need is 100 - 125 yards of the main color, and 80 yards of the contrast. Have fun choosing your own color combinations.
Our Back 40 sells a kit that includes their luxury alpaca worsted weight yarn and the pattern. http://www.ourback40.com/products/north-coast-fingerless-mitts
