Omelette is a simple looking cardigan made in „boring” stockinette stitch. However the construction makes it interesting. The body is worked bottom up to the underarms, then the stitches for the sleeves are cast on provisionally and the yoke is made in one piece to the shoulders without any seaming: the sleeves, the armholes and the front neckline are shaped at the same time, then the top of the sleeve caps are attached to the body with usual decreases, some short rows are used to shape the shoulders and finally the fronts and the back are joined with 3-needle bind off to create „shoulder seams”. After the body is ready the sleeves are made top down from the underarms, the adjustment of their length is very easy.
Every edgings are double-layered: backfolded bottom hem, backfolded buttonband, hidden buttonhole band, backfolded pocket and neck edging. Because all of the seamings are made on the WS you can use the most simple method to sew the facings/linings in place.
