    About

I have always intended to make a Velveteen Rabbit for my little boy, to accompany the book that I couldn't resist picking up not long after he was born. I'd imagined it as a sewing project, but when I came upon this pattern it looked just right. I was smitten, and with a sibling due any day now decided it was the perfect time to make a bunny for my bunny-mad big-brother-to-be (and his sibling, so a second is now on the needles!).
The knitting is uncomplicated, though I used a chart provided by another knitter on ravelry to complete the back in one single piece. I used a slip-stitch crochet to join the pieces, a new technique to me but much more versatile than mattress stitch or any other sewing attempt!
I lined the ears with wool felt, and made a pompom for the tail. I modified the front arms, to knit them in the round with some slight shaping (and slightly larger).
The seaming/sewing took longer than the knitting but I'm thrilled with the end result, and hope my son will be too.
