    About

    I support a charity called Coco's foundation. Started by a local hair dresser, the foundation supports orphans & child headed families in South Africa.
    They provide;
    House based care for orphans without family or too young to form an independent household.
    nutritionally enhanced porridge for the children attending school,
    school uniform, since schooling is free but essential uniform isn't,
    childcare for younger siblings so the older children can attend school,
    Purpose built houses to provide a secure place for the families to live.
    My blanket was created to be used in a house sponsored by a friend in memory of her parents.
    The design is inspired by the Baby Bella jumper pattern available on Ravelry for free.
    I found the orange yarn, Red Heart Baby, very thin and doubled it up to get a better match to the weight of the other yarns used.

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 3.50mm (US 4)

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle

    Measurements

    Notes: Each square came out at about 30cm or 12 inches. I made 36 in total assembled as 6x6. I used a joining technique that also took the place of the final round of each square.
